This building was a manufacturing facility of contact lenses. The building was 290,000 SF made of steel and masonry with heavy infrastructure to support its manufacturing process. One of the main reasons Johler Demolition was selected for this project is because we are well known for our ability to maintain slated schedules. This project required the use of our high reach excavator with a shear in order to safely bring the building down. Johler crushed 27,000 tons of concrete material on site to be used for the new construction.
Johler also recycled 3,000 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and 2,465 tons of demolition was diverted to a local recycling facility for further processing. Much of the electrical and process equipment that remained in the building was repurposed and sold throughout the country. Johler had all of the tools to perform the job and keep the project on track.
